We want to take a moment to further clarify our position on the issue of potential development on the Dunlavy and West Alabama lot. The aim of our campaign is not to alienate or place our Coalition in direct opposition to any one entity seeking to develop the land. We are concerned with the degree to which communities have a say in the development of land directly adjacent to their places of residence. An autocentric development would be of less use and value to the immediate community and the city of Houston at large than would a progressive development that encourages ambulatory traffic, combines retail space with green space, and bears in mind the future growth and change that is inevitable in the Montrose and Houston generally. We are aware of the shifts in population and economy that will occur with the advent of the 2012 light rail, and seek a development solution for this valuable tract that will best benefit businesses and the communities that surround it.
We are not against anyone, we are for smart urban planning, green spaces, and community involvement in decision making with regards to land use.

I hope you have a seasoned and savy lawyer who lives in the area that wants to see this happen and can facilitate an attractive arrangement that can benefit all by getting Fiesta corporation to make a contribution along with many other corporations, community fund raisers and such..for the betterment of the community that may have supported them. Target, Whole Foods, Krogers, ..as an HEB would definitely have a fiscal impact on them. with that kind of backing possibly even more corporations will come on board..even the guilty ones..Time to take advantage and use a lot of sweet intelligent schmoozing..Something they can all take pride in.
I really don’t support the opportunity for any organization or business to go in and create any retail space on this land. Furthermore to gain the community support there should me clarity on what exactly will be done with this land.
Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
